Preparation Time

20 minutes

Ingredients

  • 2 – 4 slices Baker’s Inn low G.I bread
  • 1 tsp garlic, minced
  • 100 g cheddar cheese, grated
  • 2 tbsp margarine/butter
  • 2 tbsp plain flour
  • 1 tbsp mustard
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp ground black pepper
  • Enough milk to make a paste

Method

1.    Get your ingredients together. Toast the bread on one side and set aside.
2.    Put the rest of the ingredients, i.e. garlic, cheese, margarine, flour, mustard Worcestershire sauce, salt and pepper into a saucepan. Give a mix until just combined.
3.    Add enough milk to make a paste of medium consistency. Place pot on stove top and on medium-low heat, stir until cheese and margarine begin to melt. Stop stirring and swirl the sauce pan until a medium to thick viscosity is formed. Taste for seasoning and adjust accordingly. Set aside and allow to cool.
4.    Once cooled, spoon the cheese mixture onto the toasted side of the bread. Grill in the oven at 180 degrees Celsius for 2 minutes, enjoy! You may also use the microwave in place of the oven and microwave on high for 30 seconds.
